Who we are
B & S Construction LTD is a locally and privately owned and operated civil contracting company based in Taupo, where the majority of our scope is for the Geothermal and Hydro Power Stations based around the Central North Island.
Since 2009, we have sought successful outcomes from a wide range of small and large-scale work from maintenance to cross-country pipeline projects. In order to provide the best service to our main clients within the Generation Industry, many of our site staff and management have relevant NCP, NS, Permit Recipient competencies alongside maintaining all of the Generic and Site Specific Inductions in the region.
Quality and safety are two of the key cornerstones driving our operation and we continue to strive toward building on the positive reputation we have gained with our clients, and constantly seeking ways to improve each facet of our service.
Through catering for a range of services over the past 15 Years we have built up an extensive relationship with local contractors and suppliers with values that align with ours and our clients to ensure we get the best outcome.
We have conducted work for Contact Energy and Mercury of all scales throughout their Taupo Stations and Steamfields, providing a wealth of local knowledge, experience and familiarity with sites such as Contact's Tauhara, Te Huka, Wairakei, Te Mihi and Mercury's NAP/Rotokawa, Ngatamariki, Whakamaru, Maraetai and Waipapa.
We also pride ourselves on our impact in the community. This year we are proud to sponsor a team playing in the Taupo Football Championship League.
Health and Safety
Health and safety is fundamental to every aspect of B&S Constructions operations. Our worksites are complex and demanding, with constantly changing conditions, heavy machinery, and other risks and hazards. This is why we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety across all our projects. Through careful planning, ongoing training, and proactive risk management, we work to ensure every site is a safe place for our team, our clients, and the communities around us.
We believe that a strong safety culture is built through accountability, communication, and continuous improvement. Our team is encouraged to identify risks, follow best practices, and support one another in maintaining a safe working environment. By embedding health and safety into every stage of our operations, we not only protect our people but also deliver reliable, high-quality outcomes for our clients. Safety isn’t just a requirement for us — it’s a responsibility we take seriously.
We are utilizing new industry standards such as the Staylive Competency Tool, and an online Health and Safety Management portal. All of our staff have current basic first-aid and life-support training, as well as additional site specific training where required.
